Grant: $1,000

Adikaar's Self Development Training Programme is for women seeking economic independence, questioning their societal roles and dealing with sexual harassment or gender bias in the workplace.

 

Assist! to Independence Tuba City, Arizona
Grant: $1,200

American community. Funds will purchase toys, switches and educational materials.This grant will go towards support for a fiber art exhibit with an emphasis on quilting along with an accompanying exhibit catalogue.

 

Aubin Pictures Inc. New York, NY
Grant: $1,000

This grant will fund "On Hostile Ground" which is a documentary about the ongoing struggle between supporters of "life" and choice. It focuses on abortion providers who work in regions of the U.S. where providers are scarce and abortion is highly contested. Funding will go towards distributing the video.

 

Foundation for Children and the Classics, New York, NY
Grant: $1,000

Project V.I.P. (Voice, Identity, Power) is a writing and theatre initiative for adolescent girls and the youth workers who serve them. Funding will support the project in the Bronx and Lower East Side.

 

Fuerza Unida San Antonio, TX
Grant: $1,000

This women's garment workers organization seeks to promote low-wage women workers' participation in collective action for social and environmental justice.

 

Holistic Health Center for Women Joao Pessoa Paraiba, Brazil
Grant: $1,000

The Center provides alternative health care for women in the area of Joao Pessoa. The Center offers workshops on health education and space for women with health problems to experience healing in an integral way.

 

Lavender Youth Recreation & Information Center (LYRIC) San Francisco, CA
Grant: $1,000

LYRIC works to counter the effects of social and institutional influences that are damaging to the self-esteem of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning young people. Funds will support the annual Young Women's Health Fair.

 

Wingspan Domestic Violence Project, Tucson, AZ
Project: The Domestic Violence Program for Lesbians: Grant: $2,000

The Wingspan Domestic Violence Project provides crisis intervention educational support groups, and outreach and education to lesbians in the Tucson/Pima County area of Arizona.

 

Miriam's House Washington,D.C.
Grant: $1,000 Open Meadows $1,000

Miriam's House is a residence for homeless women living with AIDS and their children. The program includes meetings, counseling and community outings. Funding will help provide cultural, social and educational activities.

 

Movimento El Pozo, Lima Peru
Grant: $1,000

Movimento El Pozo is dedicated to the empowerment of women involved in prostitution and to the defense of their basic human rights.

 

National Mobilization Against SweatShops (NMASS) New York, NY
Grant: $1,300

The "Ain't I a Woman?!" project involved youth and young women workers who are dealing with the impact of sweatshops on themselves, their families and communities. Funds will go towards developing and distributing educational brochures.

 

Roofless Women Boston, MA
Grant: $1,500

Roofless women is an advocacy organization doing outreach to women in homeless shelters.

 

Servicios Alternitivas Mujer Amauta Arequipa, Peru
Grant: $1,200

This group works with women and their families on human rights. Reproductive rights, and the rights of children and adolescents are areas of focus.

 

Whirlwind Women San Francisco, CA
Grant: $1,000

Whirlwind Women's Torbellino Project trains women in San Luis Potosi, Mexico in affordable wheelchair production.

 

Austin Lesbian and Gay Organization (ALLGO) Austin, TX.
Grant: $1,000

The grant will be used for women to attend "Entre Ellas," a retreat for building community and addressing concerns of latina lesbians.
